SU 01 Step-Up Preschool
Something for every child! Preschool students will experience an innovative framework that integrates “Fred Rogers-inspired” developmentally appropriate practices and play. The carefully planned learning environment will encourage social development while also promoting foundations in literacy, math, science, music, and art.
COST: $55 ROOM: TBD TIME: 2:15-4:45 PM
Ms. Jacqueline Brace is a Sophomore at Saint Vincent College and majors in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Special Education. Ms. Brace has babysat children throughout high school and works as a Preschool Camp Counselor over the summer at the Sewickley YMCA. Ms. Brace loves volunteering at her local church and teaches young athletes how to pitch and become better fast-pitch softball players. Also, Ms. Brace is a member of the Early Childhood, Education, and Bearcat Buddies Clubs. Ms. Brace plays softball at Saint Vincent and loves to read in her free time.
Ms. Kloes is currently a sophomore attending Saint Vincent College, where she is majoring in Early Childhood Education. She has spent the past two summers as a camp counselor and has worked with children of all ages. This past summer, Ms. Kloes worked at Camp Laugh-A-Lot which is a summer camp for individuals with special needs. In addition, she has worked at the Chartiers Township Summer Playground and volunteered at the Bucks for Bucs Sports Camp. She also provides pitching lessons to young softball players in her area who are looking to improve their fundamental skills. On campus, Ms. Kloes is a member of the softball team as well as various clubs such as the Education Club, Early Childhood Education Club, and Bearcat Buddies. In Ms. Kloes’ free time she enjoys playing softball, hanging out with friends, and shopping.
Mrs. Jamie Shero is the preschool supervising teacher for the Step-Up Preschool Program. She lives in Washington Township, Pennsylvania with her husband and three children. Mrs. Shero earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She has homeschooled her own three children for seventeen years. Additionally, she has been doing homeschool evaluations for over twenty years with the Freedom Evaluators. She has also taught six years at The Learning Center, which is a local homeschool co-op, teaching units of science and social studies. Currently, she has been tutoring preschool children using the Montessori Method. Mrs. Shero is excited to be working with the new student teachers and cannot wait to meet the new preschool students.
