SU 01 OC Step-Up Preschool
Something for every child! Preschool students will experience an innovative framework that integrates “Fred Rogers-inspired” developmentally appropriate practices and play. The carefully planned learning environment will encourage social development while also promoting foundations in literacy, math, science, music, and art.
COST: $50 ROOM: Prep Hall Lobby/Library Study Room TIME: 2:00-5:00 PM
Ms. Kiley Meek is currently a freshman attending Saint Vincent College majoring in Early Childhood Education while minoring in Special Education. She has always had a passion for working with younger children and has shown that throughout the various experiences of engaging and interacting with children. Some of the activities Ms. Meek has taken part in is FFA Week at her school by teaching students about FFA as well as helping elementary students plant flowers for Mother’s Day in a local greenhouse throughout the school year. Ms. Meek would volunteer her time to help at the 8u and 10u girl’s softball practices throughout the Spring and Summer months. However, while attending Saint Vincent College, Ms. Meek is active in various clubs consisting of the Early Childhood Education Club, The Education Club, and The Equestrian Club where she enjoys participating in various club activities and spending time interacting with many new friends. In Ms. Meek's free time she enjoys riding horses, playing softball, and volunteering throughout her community.
Justin Patenaude is a Sophomore at Saint Vincent majoring in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Special Education. He has spent three summers working with 1st and 2nd graders as a Junior Counselor at his local Park and Recreation camp. Justin has also baby-sat for family and friends. Through these experiences he has developed a passion for working with children. At school, Justin is a part of the Saint Vincent Education and Early Childhood Education Clubs. In his free time, Justin enjoys hiking, fishing, watching trains, and working on his Jeep.
Mrs. Jamie Shero is the preschool supervising teacher for the Step-Up Preschool Program. She lives in Washington Township, Pennsylvania with her husband and three children. Mrs. Shero earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She has homeschooled her own three children for seventeen years. Additionally, she has been doing homeschool evaluations for over twenty years with the Freedom Evaluators. She has also taught six years at The Learning Center, which is a local homeschool co-op, teaching units of science and social studies. Currently, she has been tutoring preschool children using the Montessori Method. Mrs. Shero is excited to be working with the new student teachers and cannot wait to meet the new preschool students.
